BRIEF HISTORY

- The Foundations of the Church and convent was laid in 1795. The campanile tower was built in 1814-1817
- The original facade of the burned church is unknown, but the present one was built by Fr. Fabian Martin, O.P., between 1866-1869. He scaled it down to four pilasters with corresponding finials, and two broken cornices.
- It has a crenellated fortress-like campanile or belltower that gives the appearance of a fortification.
- It is the only non-espadana faade among Batanes old churches
